ORANGE SLICE COOKIES 
1 lb. orange slice candies
6 tbsp. boiling water
1/2 c. shortening
2 1/4 c. sugar
4 eggs
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/2 c. flour
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Cut orange slices into eighths and pour boiling water over them. Let stand 2 hours or overnight. Cream shortening and sugar. Sift dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture. Blend; add orange slices and nuts. Pour into greased and floured 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 inch jelly roll pan. Bake 25 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle with frosting while warm. Cool and nut.
