HOT GERMAN POTATO SALAD | |
9 med. potatoes 1 tbsp. sugar 3/4 c. water 2 tbsp. flour Dash of pepper 3/4 c. chopped onion 1/2 tsp. celery seed 6 slices bacon 2 tsp. salt 1/3 c. vinegar Pare potatoes. Boil whole potatoes in salted water until done. Drain and set aside. In large skillet fry bacon until crisp, remove and put on paper towel. Stir onion in bacon drippings and cook until golden brown. Blend in flour, sugar, salt, celery seed and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is bubbly. Remove from heat, stir in water and vinegar. Heat to boiling stirring constantly for 1 minute. Crumble bacon, thinly slice potatoes into hot mixture, add bacon bits, heat through, stir lightly to coat potatoes. |
