TURTLE CAKE 
CAKE:

1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 (14 oz.) pkg. Kraft caramels
1/2 c. or 1 sm. can evaporated milk
1/2 - 3/4 c. butter
1 c. pecans
1 c. chocolate chips

FROSTING:

2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
2 c. confectioners' sugar
2 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. water
Pecans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Prepare cake mix according to package directions. Pour 1/2 of the batter into a greased and floured 9"x13" pan. Bake for only 15 minutes. Cool for at least 1/2 hour. In the top of double boiler over hot water, melt together the caramels, milk and butter. Pour this over the baked cake. Sprinkle the pecans and chocolate chips over the caramel mixture. Spread the remaining batter over the caramel mixture. Bake for an additional 25 to 30 minutes. If desired, frost and sprinkle top of frosting with pecans.
