BRAN PAN BISCUITS 
1 c. warm water
1 pkg. yeast
1/4 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. whole bran or rolled oats
1 egg
3 tbsp. shortening
3 1/2 to 3 3/4 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. salt

In bowl, dissolve yeast in water. Stir remaining ingredients, except 1/2 of flour, into yeast. Stir with spoon. Add just enough flour until easy to handle. Mix with hand. Place greased side up in greased bowl. Cover. Let rise until double (1 1/2 hours). Shape into 1/3 size balls; place close together in a greased pan. Cover and let rise until double (45 minutes). Bake at 375 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes. Makes 2 dozen.
