BEEF CUBES IN SHERRY | |
2 tbsp. shortening 2 lbs. lean stewing beef, cubed 1 pkg. onion soup mix 1 c. sherry wine 1 tsp. garlic salt 1/4 lb. sliced mushrooms Heat shortening in heavy pot. Brown the beef cubes on all sides. Add remaining ingredients in order given; stir well. Cover pot; simmer mixture at least 1 hour or until meat is tender to the fork. Add an additional water or soup stock as needed. Serve beef over broad noodles. Makes 4 to 6 servings. (I also make this in a crock pot. Just put all ingredients, except the shortening, in the pot and cook all day.) |
