CHILI BEANS 
1 lb. ground beef
1 c. chopped green pepper
2 (1 lb.) cans red kidney beans
1 to 2 tbsp. chili powder
2 tbsp. salt
1 c. chopped onion
1 (1 lb.) can tomatoes, broken up
1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
1 bay leaf

In heavy skillet, cook meat, onion, and green pepper until meat is browned. Drain; stir in remaining ingredients and simmer for 1 hour. Remove bay leaf.
