“CROCK POT LONDON BROIL” IS IN:

CROCK POT LONDON BROIL
1 london broil
1 pkg. ranch salad dressing mix
1 pkg. Italian salad dressing mix
1 pkg. brown gravy mix
1-1/2 cups water

Mix all the dry ingredients with the 1-1/2 cups water. Place roast in crock-pot. Pour the mixture over roast and cook on low overnight.

Once you do this recipe - you will never prepare any other way. The gravy it makes - is to die for. This is definitely a male favorite and will fast become a family favorite.

Male favorite? We had it for dinner a week ago and we had half males and half females eating it and everyONE of us loved it! I would say for this family it is a family favorite, not necessarily a male favorite!

Another convert on the roster! I added a box of fresh, presliced mushrooms. When I checked the meat halfway through the process, it was hard and tough. Three hours later, it fell apart on my fork. The mushrooms and gravy could be a meal unto themselves.
My only question is: why cook it overnight? It smells so good, we want to eat it right away!

@Phyllis I am making this tonight - any recommendations on exact temp for the crock pot and/or timing if I want to put this on while at work tomorrow?

Thank you!

I give this one four stars because the gravy really was good and it may be the most simple recipe ever. I had a 2lb cut of meat and cooked 6 hours on low which was way too long. There was no pink at all; I will try 4 hours next time. Per someone's suggestion, added mushrooms toward the end and we loved those as well. Will make again.

This dinner was amazing!!! We were skeptical at first because of it cooking in a crock pot, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. It was so juicy and the gravy was unbelievable. Will make this a lot more now, thank you.

I have not tried this recipe but think I can clear up some of the confusion over differing results. There are two different cuts of meat sold as "London Broil" in different parts of the country. One is a round roast and the other is a flank steak. The flank steak would not do well in this recipe.

Absolutely awesome!!! Have made it 3 times now and for the most tender sub 3/4 cup beer and then 3/4 cup water instead of just water... also some fresh garlic and chunks of white onion in the pot are a great add in... thanks for a great recipe! :-)

I made this last Sunday... It was awesome. Instead of the water I used a can of College Inn beef broth and added potatoes and carrots. I cooked it on high for 5-6 hours. It was too die for. Now I am sharing it with everyone. Want to try it with a bottom round roast next.

I pour pepperoni peppers over a 1.59lb London broil and it was flavorful. I added pepper, a 'lil salt, red green peppers n onions an minced garlic cooked it 3-1/2 hrs on low in crock pot great oh and some welcher tenderizer, about 5-6 dashes.

This was PERFECT! I had trouble keeping the kids out of the crockpot while it was cooking... There was nothing left for leftovers... have to try a larger cut of meat or make it a night that theses kids work so I can hide some :) It is in the Keeper cookbook ... thank you soooooo much

I am so glad most of you enjoy this recipe so very much. I do have to toss in something additional. IF you want a fantastic dessert as a follow up... please try my Old School Apple Crisp recipe. With the roast, mashed potatoes, gravy - and the apple crisp with ice cream... you will be the hit of any party. Hope you also try and enjoy it.

Even though a couple of the ingredients do have a large sodium content - another thought - try this website for your own version of dried ranch dressing mix, etc., You should never have a tough roast - whether this recipe or another. This is usually an indication of older beef. I would return it to the butcher - even if has been prepared.

I have not tried this recipe yet but I am going to the store to get the ingredients to make it. I have read all comments and come up with adding a beer to it and changing the ranch salad dressing to the ranch dip along with adding minced garlic. Can't wait to try it.

To Carol of Colorado. I read every review for this recipe. I am afraid to make the recipe because the sodium in the salad dressing alone is a whopping 1760 mg.
