VARIATION OF SAND TART 
1/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 3/4 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 c. chopped pecans or more if needed
1/4 c. powdered sugar

Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Sift again, and blend with butter, sugar and egg mixture. Roll dough in wax paper and chill for 3 or 4 hours. Slice 1/4 inch thick. Press into pecans firmly enough for pecans to stick. Place on ungreased cookie sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Cool for a few minutes before removing them from cookie sheet. Drop into a sack of powdered sugar to coat. Makes approximately 6 dozen.
