1 c. peanut butter
1 c. sugar
3 tbsp. boiling water
1 tbsp. vanilla
1 c. shortening
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
3 c. flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix peanut butter, sugars and shortening. Sift flour, soda and salt. Combine shortening mixture, flour mixture, water and vanilla. Roll in small balls. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Crisscross with fork.

Bake at 350°F until golden brown.

Makes approximately 6 dozen.
