MOTHER'S SALAD 
1 med. size onion
3-4 slices bacon
1 tbsp. flour
1 egg
1/3 c. vinegar
2 tsp. mustard
2 tbsp. sugar
3/4 - 1 whole head lettuce
Water

Brown bacon and drain. Add flour to bacon grease. In a small bowl beat egg, add vinegar and enough water to make 1 cup liquid. Add mustard and sugar to egg mixture. Add this liquid to bacon grease slowly, stirring constantly. Cook on low heat. Add salt and pepper to taste.

Break lettuce into a large salad bowl. Cut onion in 1/2 and thinly slice each 1/2, add to lettuce.

Pour hot dressing over lettuce and onion. Toss thoroughly.
