MARILYN'S SUPER BACK PACKING
BARS
 
1/4 c. dry roasted cashews
1 1/4 c. walnuts
6 dried figs
1/2 c. pitted dates
1/2 c. golden raisins
1/4 c. dried apples
1/2 tsp. lemon juice
1 tbsp. rum
2 tbsp. powdered sugar OR 1/2 c. flaked coconut

Run nuts and fruit through the "fine" blade of a food chopper and mix thoroughly. Blend in lemon juice and rum. Pat a tablespoon or so into a small rectangular bars, roll in sugar or coconut and allow to dry, uncovered several hours. Wrap individually in foil for use on the trail or store in refrigerator at home. Makes about 2 dozen.
