MOM'S APPLE DUMPLINGS 
1 1/2 qt. water
6 apples, pared & sliced
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
6 tsp. sugar
2 c. flour, sifted
1 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. vegetable shortening
1/2 c. milk

Start water heating in a 3 quart cooker. Sift together flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in shortening. Add milk and stir only until moistened. Roll out 1/8 inch thick in rectangle. Cut into 6 equal pieces. Place sliced apples on each piece of dough.

Mix cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle on apples. Form balls with dough around apples and press together. When all are formed, drop into boiling water. Cook for 10 minutes uncovered, turning once. Cover and cook 10 additional minutes. Serve with cream and sugar.
