2 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
4 med. apples (I use Macintosh)

Mix sugar and shortening thoroughly in large bowl. Add eggs and mix well. Add all dry ingredients and stir. Peel and dice apples and fold into dough. Grease and flour a 13 x 9 inch pan and pack dough into pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes.
