CARAMEL FUDGE BROWNIES | |
1 pkg. Kraft caramels 1 (15.3 oz.) can evaporated milk 1 box German chocolate cake mix 1 c. chopped walnuts 1 c. chocolate chips 3/4 c. melted butter In a saucepan, combine unwrapped caramels and 1/2 cup of evaporated milk. Cook on very low heat until melted; set aside. In a bowl combine dry cake mix, butter, 1/3 cup evaporated milk and nuts. Mix by hand until dough holds together. Press 1/2 of dough mixture in prepared pan. Bake this portion first at 350 degrees for 6 minutes. Remove pan from oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the pre-cooked dough. Spread the caramel mixture over the chocolate chips. Then put the remaining dough over the caramel mixture. (This is a bit messy and not necessarily even. Don't worry about total covered. It's not that important.) Bake again for another 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool to room temperature and or refrigerate before trying to cut into bars. This recipe has always been a big hit with my guests! |
