GRANDPA'S FRENCH CARAMELS 
2 c. sugar
2 c. sour cream
3/4 c. corn syrup
1/2 c. butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts, chopped or fruit if desired

Bring the sugar, syrup and 1 cup cream to a boil. Then add another cup of cream, adding slowly to keep mixture boiling. Cook to a soft ball. This will be a real dark color. When nearly done, add 1/2 cup butter and flavoring. Add nuts or fruit if desired.
