1 clove garlic
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. water
1/4 c. vinegar
1/4 c. salad oil

Chop the garlic clove fine. Pound it into the sugar to make a paste. Add the water, then vinegar, then oil. (Makes 3/4 cup + dressing - German recipe especially good on plain lettuce.)
