RAISIN SPICE CAKE 
1 1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. Crisco
3 eggs
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 pkg. seedless raisins
1 c. chopped nuts

Cook the raisins in 2 cups water until 1 cup liquid remains. Cool (overnight, if possible). Cream sugar and shortening together. Add beaten eggs, raisins and liquid. Sift all dry ingredients together thoroughly 3-4 times (important). Add to first mixture, then add nuts.
