MACARONI RAGU BEEF ITALIANO 
2 c. uncooked macaroni
3/4 c. chopped onion
1/4 c. chopped green pepper
1 lb. ground beef
1 tbsp. salad oil
15 1/2 oz. jar Ragu spaghetti sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. water
1 tsp. basil
2 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
2 c. milk
8 oz. pkg. shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 tsp. salt
Dash of pepper

Cook and drain macaroni. In large skillet, saute onion, green pepper and beef in salad oil. Drain excess fat. Stir in 1 1/4 cups Ragu, 1 teaspoon salt, water and basil. Bring to a boil. Cook for 5 minutes, stirring often. In saucepan, melt butter. Add flour and gradually blend in milk. Cook until thick. Remove from heat and add cheese, 1/2 teaspoon salt and pepper. Stir until cheese melts. Pour meat sauce into 3 quart greased casserole or 13 x 9 inch pan. Spoon macaroni on top. Smother with cheese. Drizzle remaining sauce on top. Bake 30 minutes at 400 degrees. Serves 6 to 8.
