BREAD & BUTTER PICKLES 
30 med. sized cucumbers
6 lg. onions, sliced
1/2 c. pickling salt
5 c. sugar
5 c. vinegar
2 tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves

Slice 30 medium sized cucumbers and 6 large onions and combine with 1/2 cup pickling salt. Allow mixture to stand for 3 hours, then drain.

Combine 5 cups sugar, 5 cups vinegar, 2 tablespoons mustard seed, 1 teaspoon turmeric, and 1/2 teaspoon cloves. Bring this mixture to a boil. Reduce heat and add drained cucumbers. Heat thoroughly but do not boil.

Pack hot into jars, add hot lids. Process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.
