BREAD AND BUTTER PICKLES 
15 med. cucumbers
4 lg. white onions
1 lg. seeded pepper
1/4 c. salt
2 1/2 c. cider vinegar
Artificial sweetener to equal 2 1/2 c. sugar
1 tbsp. mustard seeds
1/4 tsp. cloves

Slice cucumbers as thin as possible. Chop onions and pepper and combine with the cucumbers and salt. Let stand 3 hours; drain. Combine vinegar, artificial sweetener and spices in a large kettle and bring to a boil. Add drained cucumbers and heat thoroughly, but do not boil. Pack while hot into clean, hot jars; seal at once.
