LATVIAN CRANBERRY BREAD 
2 c. sifted flour
3/4 c. granulated sugar
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg
2 tbsp. grated orange rind
1/2 c. orange juice
3 tbsp. butter, melted
2 tbsp. hot water
1 1/2 c. cranberries, halved
34 c. nut meats

Sift dry ingredients into large bowl. In small bowl beat egg slightly; stir in orange juice and rind, butter and hot water. Add to dry ingredients. Mix thoroughly. Fold in cranberries and nut meats. Bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes in 9 x 5 x 3 inch loaf pan or until tester comes out clean. Remove from pan. Cool on rack. Glaze while still warm with confectioner's sugar icing.
