THE BEST CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE | |
2/3 c. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. brown sugar 1 egg 1 tsp. vanilla 1 1/2 c. flour 1/2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. chopped nuts 1 (6 oz.) sm. pkg. chocolate chips Heat oven to 375 degrees. Mix shortening, sugars, egg, and vanilla. Stir in dry ingredients together. Blend into mixture. Mix in nuts and chips. Drop by teaspoon onto ungreased baking sheet. Bake 8-10 minutes until delicately brown. Cool slightly before removing from pan. Small batch, may double. Wonderful cookies. VARIATIONS: Add teaspoon coconut extract and 1/2 cup shredded coconut or 1 teaspoon almond. |
