OATMEAL CAKE AND BROILED TOPPING 
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. rolled oats
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. light brown sugar
1/2 c. white sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Combine flour, soda, cinnamon and salt. Set aside. Combine oats and water; let stand 20 minutes. In bowl beat butter, eggs, sugar and vanilla until light in color. Stir in oats mixture, then flour mixture. Pour into greased and floured pan and bake at 350 degrees for 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean. Spread with broiled topping.

BROILED TOPPING:

3/4 c. flaked coconut
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/4 c. melted butter
3 tbsp. milk or cream

Combine above ingredients and spread on cake and broil 5 minutes or until bubbly. Serve warm or at room temperature.
