AU GRATIN CABBAGE 
1 lg. head cabbage
1/2 stick butter
2 rounded tbsp. flour
2 c. milk
Salt and pepper to taste
3/4 lb. grated cheddar cheese
Buttered bread crumbs

Shred cabbage and cook in small amount of water with 1 teaspoon salt. Cook until wilted. Make white sauce using butter, flour, milk, 1/2 teaspoon salt, pinch of pepper and a dash of onion salt. After sauce is smooth and thickened, stir in and melt 1/2 pound of cheese. Put 1/2 of cabbage in a buttered casserole. Put 1/2 of cabbage in a buttered casserole. Pour half the cabbage, then sauce. Top with more cheese and cover with buttered bread crumbs. Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees.
