BUTTERSCOTCH BARS 
1 c. butter
1 c. brown sugar
1 egg yolk
2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. salt
1 (6 oz.) pkg. butterscotch chips
1/4 c. corn syrup
2 tbsp. shortening
1 tbsp. water
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts

Mix first 6 ingredients together. Press into 9 x 13 inch pan and bake at 325 degrees for 15 minutes. Let cool.

Combine in a double boiler, chips, corn syrup, shortening, water and salt. Stir over hot water until smooth. Blend in chopped nuts. Spoon over bottom layer. Let cool and cut into squares.
