DANISH PASTRY APPLE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
1/2 c. butter
1 egg yolk plus milk to equal 2/3 c.
1/2 c. crushed corn flakes
8 to 10 apples, peeled and sliced
1 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 egg white

Mix flour, salt, shortening, butter, egg yolk and milk for crust. Roll half of dough to fill 12x17 inch jelly roll pan.

Sprinkle bottom crust with corn flakes. Sprinkle sugar and cinnamon over apples and put apples over flakes. Roll out other half of dough and place on top. Pinch edges. Beat egg white stiff and brush over crust. Bake at 375 degrees for 50 to 60 minutes. While warm, glaze. Makes 24 bars.

GLAZE:

2 tbsp. water
1 1/2 c. powdered sugar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
