POLKA DOT CAKE 
1 1/4 c. chopped dates
1 c. hot water
3/4 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips (mini size)
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Mix date and hot water; cool. Cream butter and sugar, beat in eggs well. Sift flour, soda and salt together, add to creamed mixture alternately with date mixture. Stir in vanilla and 1/2 cup chocolate chips. Spread batter in a greased 1/3 by 9 by 2 inch pan. Top with remaining chocolate chips and nuts.

Bake 35 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle cinnamon and sugar mixture on top of cake right out of oven.
