TANIA'S AUTUMN CHOWDER 
1/2 lb. ground meat
1/2 c. diced onion
1/2 c. diced potatoes
1/2 c. diced carrots
1/2 c. shredded cabbage
1/2 c. sliced celery
1 (1 lb.) can of tomatoes
1/8 c. rice (uncooked)
1 1/2 c. water
2 tsp. salt
1/8 tsp. basil
1/8 tsp. thyme
1/2 bay leaf

Brown meat with onion until onion is tender. Drain excess fat. Add remaining ingredients. Bring mixture to a boil. Cover and simmer 1 hour.

Serves 4.
