1 can condensed milk
1 box German chocolate cake mix
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. water
3 eggs
1/2 c. Crisco oil
1 bag caramels (1 lb.)
1/2 stick butter

Mix 1/2 can Carnation milk, 1 box cake mix, 1 teaspoon vanilla, 1 cup water, 3 eggs and 1/2 cup Crisco oil. Pour 1/2 batter in 13x9 inch cake pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 20 minutes.

Melt 1 bag caramels, 1/2 stick butter and 1/2 can condensed milk in double boiler. Add 1 1/2 - 2 cups chopped nuts. Pour over cake. Add rest of cake mix and bake at 325 degrees for 20-25 minutes.
