Batter: 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/2 c. soft butter or shortening 2 eggs 1 c. milk 2 tsp. baking powder 2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. salt Filling: 1 c. sugar 1/2 c. Hershey's dark cocoa 1/2 tsp. vanilla 3/4 c. hot water 2 (9 inch) unbaked pie shells Mix together 1 1/2 cup sugar and butter. Add eggs, mix and set aside. Mix together flour, salt and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture alternately with milk. Pour batter into pie shells. Combine 1 cup sugar, cocoa, vanilla and hot water; mix together until there are not lumps. Pour equally over batter in 2 pans. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes; test with toothpick or cake tester. |
