Lower Part:

1/2 c. sugar
4 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. warm water
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 unbaked pie shell

Upper Part:

1 c. sugar
1/4 c. butter
1/2 c. milk
1 egg beaten
1 c. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. vanilla

Mix "lower part" ingredients together and pour into unbaked pie shell.

Cream together sugar and butter. Add the combined milk and egg alternately with flour and baking powder. Add vanilla and pour over "lower part".

Bake at 350°F for approximately 35 minutes.
