GINGERBREAD COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. molasses
1 egg, beaten
4 1/2 c. sifted flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. ginger
1/4 tsp. salt

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in molasses and egg. Sift together dry ingredients. Stir in molasses mixture and blend. Roll out 1/8-inch thick and cut desired shapes.

Bake cookies at 350°F for 8 minutes.
