GLOGG (A SWEDISH CHRISTMAS DRINK) | |
1 qt. dry red wine (use a basic French table wine) 2 c. cream sherry 1/2 c. raisins Peel of 1 orange (orange part only), removed in long strips 2 tsp. Angostura bitters 5 cardamom pods 5 whole cloves 1 (3 inch) cinnamon stick 1 c. aquavit or vodka 2 tbsp. sugar or to taste Whole blanched almonds Raisins Combine first 8 ingredients in a large crock or pitcher. Cover tightly and let stand at room temperature for 12 hours. Strain into large NON-ALUMINUM saucepan. Mix in aquavit or vodka and sugar. Bring to jut below a simmer, stirring occasionally. Place an almond and a raisin in each mug. Add glogg to mug and enjoy. Makes 7 cups. |
