SWEDISH MEATBALLS 
1 c. bread crumbs
1 c. milk
1 egg, beaten
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 lb. ground pork
1 lb. ground round steak
1 med. onion, minced
4 tbsp. vegetable shortening
2 tbsp. flour
2 c. light cream or water

Soak bread crumbs in milk. Add egg, salt, pepper, allspice, and nutmeg and mix thoroughly with the ground meat. Add onion. Shape into small balls and brown on all sides in hot shortening. Make gravy by adding flour and cream. Cover frying pan and simmer meatballs in gravy for 1 hour.
