SHEPHERD'S PIE 
2 lb. ground meat (beef, turkey or chicken)
6 to 8 potatoes
4 to 6 slices American cheese
1/4 c. onions
Milk, to taste
butter, to taste
Salt & pepper, to taste

Peel, quarter and boil potatoes until soft (approximately 20 minutes). Brown ground meat and onion until completely done. Drain potatoes. Mash potatoes adding milk, butter, salt and pepper until desired consistency and flavor.

In a 3 quart Corningware dish, spread mashed potatoes evenly around edges of dish. Drain meat and place in center of dish. Lay cheese slices on top of potatoes and meat. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until cheese is melted.
