1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda

2/3 c. soft shortening
1 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1 egg, unbeaten
1/2 c. milk, sweet or sour
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix until well blended. Add 2 squares (2 ounces) unsweetened chocolate, melted and 1/2 cup chopped nuts. Blend well. Drop on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for about 15 minutes. Ice with a rich chocolate butter cream frosting.
