2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1 c. unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c. seedless raisins
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1/3 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg

Sift flour, soda, salt and spices together. Mix in raisins and nuts. Cream shortening. Add sugar, then egg, and beat until mixture is fluffy. Stir in applesauce, then the flour. Bake in greased and floured muffin tins, 2/3 full in a moderate oven (375 degrees) 20 to 25 minutes. Cool and frost with Lemon Frosting.
