6 tbsp. butter
1/3 cup shortening
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup all-purpose flour

Beat together butter, shortening, sugar, egg, vanilla and milk mixed with the baking powder. Slowly add a cup of flour. Dough will be soft and sticky. Let cling-film or Saran wrapped dough rest for 3 hours (or overnight) in the refrigerator.

Roll out on well-floured board and cut out designs. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375°F until golden. Makes about 4 dozen cookies. Can be decorated. Keeps well.
