REIGN SMOTHERED PORK CHOPS
4 center cut pork chops (1 inch thick)
2 teaspoons seasoning salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/3 cup flour
1/3 vegetable oil
2 onions, sliced

Season pork chops with seasoning salt and pepper, coat completely with flour.

Heat oil in a heavy skillet. Add pork chops and brown on each side (about 3 minutes per side).

Remove and set aside. Add sliced onions to the pan drippings and cook for 1 minute. Add remaining flour. Continue to stir until onions and flour begin to brown.

Add 2 cups of water and bring to a boil, stir until incorporated and return pork chops to the gravy. Cover skillet, reduce heat and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes until gravy is thick and pork chops are tender.

Used boneless center cut pork chops. As suggested by the Charcho girl (Washington), added A1 and Worcestershire sauce; adds a great flair! great basic recipe - thanks to all with comments!

DH loves these! I would only add to slice onions thin and to heat the water prior to adding to the skillet.

Made as written, for our household this recipe required a few dashes of Worcestershire sauce for that little extra kick.

Love this recipe. Had the pleasure of having this dish at Reign restaurant in Beverly Hills before it closed its doors. The restaurant was owned by football player Keyshawn Johnson and it is the authentic recipe named after and from the restaurant. Enjoy!

I made a similar recipe in college, but sautéed two cups of sliced mushrooms with the onion and used a cup of white wine to deglaze the pan. I also added a large spoon of Gulden's spicy brown mustard. Just rocked.

This was delicious! But instead of water, I used 1 tsp chicken soup base and 1 tsp beef soup base, for more flavor. I also tried another person's idea and put in about 1 tsp. Worcestershire and A1 to the broths. I made 3 pans of this tonight (2 growing boys & hubby) and to 2 of the pans, I also added sliced fresh mushrooms in with the onions. Thanks Carmen and Susan for a wonderful recipe!

I liked this so much more than the onions on top in other recipes I have made. When made it this way and missed my flavorings from other recipes. So this second time I added A1 and whatsthishere sauce and a 1/4 cup half n half. Try it sometime it changes the menu a slight bit and then I have same dinner goodness my family likes and can get some other flavors in the menu. These both are keepers thanks for bringing to us!
