QUICK WHOLE WHEAT ROLLS | |
1 pkg. yeast 1/2 tsp. sugar 1/2 c. lukewarm water 7/8 c. scalded milk 1/4 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tbsp. melted butter 1 egg, well beaten 2 c. whole wheat flour 1 1/2 c. enriched flour Dissolve yeast and sugar in 1/2 cup water in small bowl. Set aside to bubble. Mix other ingredients but flour in another bowl. Beat until smooth; add enough enriched flour to form a soft dough without kneading. With well-greased hands shape into buns or rolls and let rise until double in bulk in warm place. Bake 400 degrees 15 to 20 minutes. If time permits, a second rising makes these buns even better. |
