DRIED ROSE SACHET | |
1 qt. dried rose petals 2/3 to 1 c. dried tiny rosebuds 1 c. dried fragrant leaves 1 oz. orrisroot 1/2 tsp. cinnamon 1/2 tsp. ground cloves 1/2 tsp. mace 1/2 tsp. sandlewood powder Few drops of favorite perfume, optional Fragrant dried herbs, optional Use thoroughly dried, crispy petals and leaves, otherwise you will ruin the brew. Blend petals, buds, and leaves with orrisroot. Make a mixture of the spices and blend well. In a rose jar or other covered container, place a layer of petals and sprinkle with a layer of the spices. Continue alternating layers of petals and spices. (Add an additional layer if using fragrant dried herbs) Add a few drops of your favorite perfume on the top and cover the jar. Keep covered and out of direct sunlight for at least 6 weeks. Shake the container every few days during this time to enable the fragrances to mingle and mellow. To make sachets, place a small amount of potpourri inside a square made from a lace hankerchief or very thin material. Stick closed and trim with ribbon and or lace and a bow or tiny dried flowers. Place anywhere you want a fresh clean scent. |
