APPLE SLICE BARS 
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 c. corn flakes
1 1/4 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
8 apples

Combine first 3 ingredients. Work until they are coarse crumbs. Separate eggs. Beat yolks in a cup. Add just enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Add to crumb mixture. Roll dough in halves. Put 1/2 in 9 x 13 inch pan. Sprinkle corn flakes over dough. Put peeled and sliced apples over flakes. Top with sugar and cinnamon. Cover with remaining dough. Beat egg whites and salt. Brush on dough. Bake at 400 degrees for 10 minutes and 40 minutes at 350 degrees.
