CANDY MERINGUE BARS 
1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. baking soda
2 (1 1/8 oz.) chocolate-coated English toffee bars, chopped (1/2 c.)
2 egg whites
1/2 c. granulated sugar

Cream butter and brown sugar; beat in egg yolks and vanilla. Stir together flour, soda and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Add to creamed mixture; mix until crumbly. Pat into ungreased 13x9x2 inch baking pan.

Sprinkle with toffee bars; press into base. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. Beat egg whites until soft peaks form. Slowly add sugar; beat to stiff peaks. Carefully spread over hot cookies. Bake 20 minutes longer. Cut bars while warm.
