WHITE RICE BROWNED 
1/2 c. butter
2 c. raw white rice
2 1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper
2 cans beef consomme
1/2 c. chopped, blanched almonds

Melt butter in large frying pan. Add rice. Cook over very slow heat, stirring often until rice is golden brown. Place in 2 quart casserole. Sprinkle on seasonings.

When ready to bake, add consomme, water (amount on consomme can) and nuts. Mix gently, cover and bake at 300 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Do not stir. Serves 10 people.
