EASY FRENCH ONION SOUP 
1 tbsp. butter
3/4 c. to 1 1/2 c. sliced onions
1/2 tsp. sugar
1 tbsp. flour
4 c. consomme
Salt and pepper to taste
3 tbsp. sherry
3 tbsp. grated Parmesan cheese
Thick french bread, toasted

Melt butter in large pan. Slowly cook onions until soft. Add sugar and flour, cook one minute. Add comsomme, salt and pepper. Simmer 30 to 40 minutes. Best if you chill and let set for 24 or more hours. Preheat add sherry. Put one slice French bread in each serving bowl. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to taste.
