OLD FASHIONED JELLY CAKE 
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. Crisco
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
3 c. self-rising flour
1 c. milk
1 1/2 tsp. lemon extract

Preheat oven to 350°F. Cream shortenings; add sugar, cream until fluffy. Add eggs, 1 at a time. Beat very hard after each egg. Add flour, stir in milk; beat 11 minutes. Add lemon extract. Grease 3 (8-inch) pans, sprinkle 1/2 teaspoon of flour before adding batter. Bake at 350°F for 30 minutes. Add jelly on top of each layer, cranapple or grape jelly.

Sounds just like the jelly cake my grandmother used to make. She couldn't remember how many eggs she used,nor does this recipe list the number of eggs. I sure would like to find out how many eggs are used, so I can make one of these wonderful jelly cakes. Love them
