FRUIT CAKE 
2 c. sugar
2 c. cold water
1/2 c. Crisco
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 lb. white seedless raisins
1 lb. dark seedless raisins
1 tsp. baking powder
2 to 3 c. flour
1 lg. jar of mixed glazed fruit
1 shot glass sherry
3 to 4 eggs
1/2 tsp. salt

Combine water, sugar, Crisco, raisins and cinnamon in large pot and boil for 5 minutes. When cooled add 1 teaspoon baking powder to 2 or 3 cups flour sifted and add to mixture 1 large jar of mixed fruit. Add one shot glass of sherry wine. Mix 3 or 4 well beaten eggs and add to rest of mixture. This will make 2 or 3 small or 2 large cakes. Line the bread pans with brown paper well greased. Also grease the pans. Bake at 250 degrees for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Cool thoroughly and pour 1/2 glass of sherry on tops of cakes.
