BASIC NO KNEAD BREAD | |
3 tbsp. shortening 2 tbsp. sugar 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. scalded milk 1 pkg. yeast 1/2 c. lukewarm water 1 egg 3 to 3 1/4 c. sifted flour Combine first 3 ingredients with hot milk and cool to lukewarm. Add the yeast which has been dissolved in the water. Stir well. Blend in egg, then the flour. Mix until well blended. Cover and let rest for 15 minutes. Shape into loaf on floured board. Place in greased loaf tin and cover. Let rise until doubled. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes. Turn out of pan immediately. For cinnamon bread - roll dough to 16 to 18 inches. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll up - seal edges. Bake in loaf pan. |
