CARAMEL BARS 
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/2 c. oatmeal
1 c. melted butter
1 c. chocolate chips

Mix together, add butter. (It will be crumbly.) Save 1 cup of mixture for topping.

Press into a lightly greased 9 x 13 inch pan. Bake 10 minutes. Cool a few minutes. Spread caramel. Sprinkle 1 cup chocolate chips, then remaining mix. Press and bake 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

CARAMEL RECIPE:

1 can sweetened condensed milk

Lay on its side in a pan, cover with hot water. Boil 2 hours. MAKE SURE WATER COVERS CAN ALWAYS. Remove from heat and cover pan. Let cool until room temperature (water in pan). Open can - and its caramel.
