SOUPA 
3 or 4 lbs. chuck roast (brown)

1/4 tsp. whole cloves
1/4 tsp. cumin seeds
3 to 4 bay leaves (whole)
1 tsp. allspice
1 stick cinnamon

Put meat in baking dish with bags of spices. Pour sauce over and cook for 3 to 4 hours, until meat is tender.

SAUCE:

1 can tomato sauce
1/2 med. onion
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. salt
1 clove minced garlic
1 c. wine (red & cheap)
1 c. water
1/4 c. catsup

After cooking take out meat and add 2 quarts water and simmer for 1 hour. Place sliced French bread in large baking dish, put mint leaves over it. Pour sauce over and serve. Serve meat separate.
